Believe it or not, the place I spent the most time in sleeping in a hotel was Tennessee. I spent my childhood in North Carolina, so the closet vacation destination was Pigeon Forge, home of Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park. There were plenty of other attractions, too. If you were alive in the Great Smoky mountains, you knew about this little tourist trap. The trick was to find hotel deals before you got there, as the hotels there were notorious for price gouging and everything else to gain an advantage.

Many of use have valuable pets at home. My last post highlighted the growing trend of people implanting chips into their animals to help them keep track should one of our beloved dogs or cats leave the house. Every Sunday evening, except last night due to the Super Bowl, the local bowling alley hosts a free poker tournament that grants entrance into a big tournament in Las Vegas for free, since we can’t really play for money. The only problem with winning this entrance is getting the transportation and Vegas hotel necessary to play. Obviously, this still means that despite the entrance fee being paid, there are still some pretty substantial expenses, including missing work for a few days in order to go out there.
